Like Mercury One2One, Orange offered a choice of phones. The Nokia 2140 and the Motorola MR1. Like the One2One m300 the MR1 was a restyled Motorola flip phone. Like the m300 the flip only covered part of the keyboard, but unlike the m300, Orange's MR1 was their cheaper alternative.
The Motorola was definitely the poor relation. Orange was the first operator to offer a digital paging service, text to you and me, but the MR1 had no provision for text messaging.
A couple of years later Orange was still offering the same phone, only the price was just £30.
